instant decisions, plans, arrangements, predictions, offerings,
promises, actions in progress in the future and fixed events in the
future and use it in the classroom through role plays:

- Plans: "I am going to visit my family next month".
- Arrangements: "I am meeting my manager on Tuesday at 5 pm.
- Predictions based on evidence: "It is cloudy. It is going to rain this evening".
- Predictions based on no evidence: "Arsenal will win the Champions League next year".
- Offerings: You look tired. "I will carry your bags".
- Promises: "I will love you for ever".
- Actions in progress in the future: "Tomorrow morning I will be working".
- Fixed events in the future: "The train leaves at 11.30 pm on Wednesday".

Week 10 4th - 10th November 2013
Hello!
This week
we have revised the “present simple”, vocabulary on physical appearance and
used it to describe people.
We have
studied the “present continuous”, compared it with the “present simple”,
and used it to express what we are doing currently.
We have
also revised word agreement and punctuation (remember that adjectives always keep
the same form: a red car, some red cars) as well as “likes and dislikes” ( I
love, I like, I don’t like, I hate ) and used it to express our likes and
dislikes for both things and actions ( Example: I like cars / I like driving
cars ).
Thank you
for your participation and involvement. You did very well. Please, don’t worry
about making mistakes. Remember that making mistakes is a part of the learning
process.

This week we have talked about our daily routines.
What time do you have a shower?
What time do you get to work?
We have also reviewed how to ask questions (how long do you...? what do you....? When...?) and the difference between present simple and present continuous.
How do you celebrate your birthday? And mother's day? And Christmas? Do you exchange presents? Do you visit your relatives? And what about carnival?
We have also learnt how people celebrate birthdays in other countries. Did you know that all Chinese people celebrate their birthdays with thier New Year?
Finally, we have seen how we use the present continuous tense or "going to" for future arrangements.
The difference is quite sutile, but here you have a grammar explanation that can be handy:
- (be) going to + infinitive: we use it to talk about future plans:
" I'm going to work in the UK for 6 weeks"
- Present continuous for future arrangements: future arrangements fixed for a fixed time or place. It is very common to find it with expressions such as tonight, tomorrow, this weekend, etc.
Here you have some exercises so you can practise these tenses:

The last part of the class we have been talking about daily routines. Here you have you homework, a listening and some questions
Have a nice weekend!

Congratulations for your speeches, they were very good!
Today he have listened to each other stories and made a lot of questions, so we know each other a bit better now.
What do we use should for? it has two uses: to make polite requests and to give advice.
We have also started to talk about our jobs and what is important for us in our careers.
We'll keep working on that on Thursday, see you then!
